NO MAGIC IS MAGIC
What if you have magic, wondrous magic.
This magic fills your life with unparalleled vitality and joy. But these magical states also have a dark side, one that puts you into dimensions of deeply being bothered.
Weary of being bothered, you can't take it any more. You go to a Wizard to remedy the situation. You tell the Wizard you must get rid of this deep and dark bother.
And so the Wizard gives you a potion.
Gripping the potion bottle, you verify with the Wizard, "If I take this potion, I won't have to experience the dimensions of deeply being bothered?"
With a nod from the Wizard, you hurry to drink down the potion, hopeful that relief is about to manifest.
Over time, you're delighted and amazed how the bother slowly lifts and moves away from you.
Yet something else is noticed. Something very disturbing.
As the bother lifts, so does the magic that filled your life
with unparalleled vitality and joy. In horror you realize
both the dark bother and the vital magic are fading away.
You rush back to the wizard in a panic, "Wizard, Wizard! You must do something!"
You explain the situation as shocking and unacceptable.
Angry with him, you shout, "I want the bother to go away
but I don't want to lose the magic!"
The wizard shrugs and raises a perturbed eyebrow, "There's nothing to be done.
One is linked to the other. Get rid of one and the other will have to go too.
In unexplainable ways, each one gives meaning to the other."
"But I want the magic in my life! I want my vitality and joy back!"
The wizard considers you for a moment, heaves a sigh,
then hands you a second potion. "Try this. It may or may not work.
Once some things are gone, they can be very hard for us to bring back.
Some things get stuck in time, some things get stuck in mind."
"I don't care!" You grab at the potion bottle, "I'll try it!"
The Wizard snatches it back from you and asks, "Are you sure that's what you want?
Realize, if this works, the magic will come back, but so will the bother - in full force."
You hesitate and hesitate some more,
you hesitate long enough to belie your dilemma.
You stare into the Wizard's eyes and receive an insight.
The price of vital magic is living with darkness and bother,
and no magic can change that. The only magic that counters the bother
is the magic of having no magic, which is a sort of magic
that's no magic at all. Such non-magic-magic is reserved only for those
who can be here and not here, apart and yet not separate,
neither then or now, only when.
"How is that possible?" you ask.
"It's not a question of what's possible," the Wizard replies. "If you have to ask
what's possible, then you are not one of the ones such magic is reserved for."
You exclaim, "But that would be the most powerful magic
-- a magic beyond anything possible, even beyond what's possible with magic!"
"That's true," nods the Wizard with wide eyes. His fingers strum the air before him,
"And that's why the non-magic-magic is the only true magic."
His hand drops to his side, "Everything else is simply obvious."
With that and a glint in his eye, the Wizard once again offers you the second potion bottle.
