consciousness is a transcendent phenomenon
moving through a moral landscape
the place of the individual
the place of suffering
is where transformation takes place

heavenly sun and moon eclipse

...for the universe not to be boring,
something needs to be at stake,
a universe with nothing at stake is static,
no matter what is going on in it...

Imagine you are the one tasked with creating the Garden of Eden. The Garden contains the chaos of Nature but a chaos formulated within a framework that is orderly, therefore it's a garden. Now, do you build a wall around the Garden high enough to preclude the possibility of snakes or do you make yourself strong enough to contend with their possibility?

What is more important, being safe or strong? Is it possible to exist at all and be safe? What would that look like and still retain the variety and ongoing wondrous manifestations of Nature?

You as Creator are omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. So what do you lack? You lack limitation. This is justification enough for Being as realized by The Garden.
For anything to come into existence there needs to be an element of resistance. That polarity is a pre-requisite for Being. The only possible solution to a dilemma may be synthesis, where neither element is discarded but rather both are combined to form something new.

Your Garden presents the souls within it the dilemma of ordered Nature in the presence of the snake. What's at stake? Finding a synthesis of Being within this polarity. This is the tension of creation itself.

the god cycle
1 - retreat to an infinite space of total receptivity
2 - allow spontaneous manifestation to take place that shatters what came before
3 - from this fragmentation form an even greater new whole
4 - repeat

juggler of worlds

The Genie laughed, "Everyone makes noises about wanting a meaningful life."

The Noodge asked, "Is an answer to that possible?"

"Of course," smirked the Genie. "After all, I'm a Genie!"

Buoyed with anticipation, the Noodge was coaxed to use his last wish and ordered the Genie to produce the answer.

And so the genie offered two life choices guaranteed to be the answer - "Live a hedonistic, responsibility-free life that satisfies as a solution at first yet drains away meaning to nothing over time - or have a struggling but meaningful life yet over time it'll only be as meaningful as the amount of responsibility you're willing to bear."

The Noodge was enraged, "You tricked me! I never would have used my last wish on such a dilemma! That's an impossible choice!"

The Genie shrugged, "All you asked for was the answer, not the solution. If life had solutions, there wouldn't be any need for Genies!"

erotic hindu temple

Heaven is one of the levels of Hell
and Hell one of the levels of Heaven
and all levels comprise the Soul.

There is love in Hell
and it is true love.
Love extends into Hell
when it is a true love that nonetheless tortures and torments
because it cares so much, regardless of consequences.

What are you willing to do in the name of love?
Would you gladly walk into Hell in the name of love?
What greater love can there be than this?
The greatest love can open the deepest abyss.
This doesn't make it any less a love.
In Heaven and Hell, this exemplifies the opposite.
but sometimes
but sometimes...
jung's artwork from the red book
"There is only one way and that is your way; there is only one salvation and that is your salvation. Why are you looking around for help? Do you believe that help will come from outside? What is to come is created in you and from you. Hence look into yourself. Do not compare, do not measure. No other way is like yours. All other ways deceive and tempt you. You must fulfill the way that is in you...But what weakness! What doubt! What fear! You will not bear going your way. You always want to have at least one foot on paths not your own to avoid the great solitude! So that maternal comfort is always with you! So that someone acknowledges you, recognizes you, bestows trust in you, comforts you, encourages you. So that someone pulls you over onto their path, where you stray from yourself, and where it is easier for you to set yourself aside. As if you were not yourself!" - the red book

dome of stars

the scientific believe the scientific is the scientific way to approach everything.
there is only the material, deductive logic, observation with five sense, hypothesis, theory, then law.
nothing else exists or matters. any other question is simply the wrong question to ask.

and so, scientifically, i would like to measure, quantify, and understand --
how much potential is in a room?
how much potential is there in a room with people in it?
how much potential is there anywhere?
simply claiming infinite potential is a baseless premise scientifically.
where is the proof? how do we know? perhaps there are limits, but how to define?

maybe the issue diverges. maybe it's not just how much potential there is.
maybe the more fundamental question regards how we get access to it.
going into that issue turns the question onto us.
and what is the measure of that?

Descartes is credited as being the founder of modern science, the very temple of rationalism and reason. And yet, in 1620 when he was age 21 and in the army in Ulm, Germany (a place later to be the birthplace of Einstein), Descartes had a lucid dream in which an angel appeared to him with a message -- "The mastery of nature is to be achieved through measure and number."

Greatly affected by this apparition, Descartes was inspired to base his following fundamental work on this message. And so, the very temple of modern science was founded on a revelation of an angelic being that spoke to Descartes from another dimension.

How did Jung see...The Shadow?
  • positive things can be stuffed into the shadow
  • inner and outer judgments are operands of the shadow
  • expansion of consciousness will automatically open us to more, including more of ourselves, which include more of our shadow (the more light you embrace, the more shadow you need to integrate)
  • repression is an active process of the shadow
  • the shadow develops over one's whole life, and most is unconscious, and so working with it is complex
  • working with the shadow requires becoming conscious of it then pulling out individual threads one at a time from the shadow's inter-meshed tapestry
  • shadow work is piecemeal work - to think one experience completes the work is another layer of self-deception
  • the shadow becomes a filter for our experience of reality, this often results is self-deception, complicating shadow work even more; in layers one finds "I know myself" is usually wrong
  • the shadow creates a distance between you and yourself and others
  • the shadow creates a lot of unresolved pressure
  • inner judgment always begets outer judgment and outer judgment always begets inner judgment
  • actions of the shadow result in us fearing the undermining of our self concept
  • in essence, the steps to reintegrate the shadow are - dissolve the ego, invite the shadow back in your conscious mind, then unite the opposites; easier said than done
  • the shadow is everything the ego is not
  • ego transcendence is having no fear, seeing clearly, with expanded awareness
  • shadow integration results in recognizing the projections we do and seeing past the distortions they create
  • to guard against the self-deception of the ego split from shadow, watch your thoughts
  • expression of traits is not the same as re-integration
  • you have no control over your internal state any more than you have control of the state of the outer world around you - both are navigated, not conquered

"You can suck the immensity of the small and the great into yourself, and you will become emptier and emptier, since immense fullness and immense emptiness are one and the same." - the red book

"Honor the darkness as the light, and you will illumine your darkness." --the red book

"Therefore the way redeems you. You cannot at the same time be on the mountain and in the valley, but your way leads you from mountain and valley and from valley to mountain. Much begins amusingly and leads into the dark. Hell has levels." -- the red book

"Meaning is a moment and a transition from absurdity to absurdity, and absurdity only a moment and a transition from meaning to meaning." - the red book

"Mustn't it be a peculiarly beautiful feeling to hit bottom in reality at least once, where there is no going down any further, but only upward beckons at best? Where for once one stands before the whole height of reality?" - the red book

"Every step closer to my soul excites the scornful laughter of my devils, those cowardly ear-whisperers and poison-mixers. It was easy for them to laugh, since I had to do strange things." - the red book

"The words uttered at the fire are ambiguous and deep and show life the right way. The blind shall be lamed, so that he will not run into the abyss, and the lamed shall be blind, so that he will not look at things beyond his reach with longing and contempt. Both may be aware of their deep helplessness so that they will respect the holy fire again, as well as the shades sitting at the hearth, and the words that encircle the flames." - the red book

"You are a slave of what you need in your soul." - the red book
